Some THINGS THAT MAY HINDER DRONE OPerationS
(But there is a brighter side…. we can try to work things out)
1) Weather conditions including rain, winds and gusts;
(other WX factors come into play i.e.: Kp)
2) Sunshine and shadows cast;
(Early morning, sunrise, offer the best diffused lighting, while dusk and nighttime are not the best and
bright sunlight can cast deep shadows that can obscure the items you want to see).
3) Proximity to airports and helicopters;
(take off and landing trajectories may require special clearances to operate at certain altitudes,
local ordinances must also be observed)
4) Drones should not fly directly over people who are not part of the drone operation. (It’s an FAA reg…..
Unless I’m flying my new, tiny, category 1 NEO drone that’s approved for
operations over people! And while flying indoors, the FAA rules do not apply)
5) Obstructions such as trees, power lines, other buildings;
(certain image capture angles are needed to create 3D models,
certain automated flights may not be possible when obstructions are in the area)
6) Neighbors around the operation area may object or may need to be notified.
7) Suitable takeoff and landing locations are subject to preflight inspection.
(emergency landing areas need also to be considered)
8) Client must discuss the desired end product they are looking for prior to start of operation.
NOTE: As a FAA credentialed Part 107 commercial UAV pilot, I strive to keep safety as a priority
during all my missions. I follow all Federal Aviation Administration rules and regulations.
On the brighter side of things.....
Most flights take less than an 30 minutes of in air time to capture the photo and video images.
Of course, there is some time expended on downloading and processing all the captured material.
